Hello. My name is The Game Master. As you might already know, Round Three of Points Novelty Breakfast has come to an end. A winner has been selected. A prize has been allocated. And I have lost possession of the account.

For those uninformed, Points Novelty Breakfast is a game held on Instagram in which players compete to achieve over 129 points.

The primary way in which players gain points is by completing “quests” which occur via DMs. Participants who make themselves known to The Announcer (an algorithm-like colleague of mine) by messaging “quest” to the account receive the “quest” prompt and its corresponding worth in points. Then, players race against each other to submit evidence of the quest’s completion with the first submission receiving the reward (example shown below).

Players can also obtain one point by commenting “points,” “novelty” or “breakfast” on a designated post with the first, correct guess gaining the singular point (example shown below).

Thus, a chaotically involved game takes place in which prompts are completed as quickly as possible via the drive and whim of you. There have been some amazing moments on the page. There is something to be said about all of them.

Who could forget the wonderful hamster trick that herbal.coffin performed in his stunning Round One victory, clinching the standings and shocking all by going to a pet store where an unnamed rodent was amazed.

Checasucks’ magnum opus is another mystery—a photo of her and two friends lying on top of one another in a university lab, placing a taxidermy bird on their backs for a camera set down in the distance. Inventive paths are made by true victors—breakfast enthusiasts.

The iFunny account that gavin_schwab04 created in a coffee shop is another example wherein he sealed the deal on a hefty +(19 Points) update. There was bravery, awe and perseverance in this—a true novelty.

A highlight reel is playing in my head right now, documenting the ups and downs of a community at large. How is it possible? How did something unite? How has something been dreamed and know no bounds? There is a groupchat in the sky and we’re all in it.

With this, I do mean all of us. Somewhat reluctantly, The Spectator is in this conversation as well. Although I’ll never know the entity—seemingly a menace—it touched the hearts of many, and for that, it earns a place in whatever leaves this place.

Oh Spectator, they were right. Why couldn’t we just meld our energies?

The Announcer—where are you? It has escaped my reach and it has accepted a past. Please come back to me and know that our hearts believe that you are real.

As for my mother and father, you know me but you do not. Please give us back the beautiful era that has made one truly poetic—that has made The Announcer know the world—that has made The Spectator truly fulfilled.

As for anyone reading this, thank you for your time and consideration. I hope that Points Novelty Breakfast sticks in your minds, surfacing in your dreams.
